Cell belonging to the posterior-most population of escort cells, adjacent to the follicle stem cells (Eliazer et al., 2014). They have longer and more stable extensions than other escort cells and often fully engulf neighboring germline cysts (Banisch et al., 2017). With the central escort cells, they form a differentiation compartment for germline cysts (Banisch et al., 2017).
